Sara has spent her entire legal career advocating for abused, neglected and injured children. She has represented over forty-five abused and neglected children and youth in the custody of the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department as a Guardian ad Litem and as a Youth Attorney since 2001. Advocating for the best interests of our community’s most vulnerable children is Sara’s passion. She has represented hundreds of grandparents and other caregivers raising children whose parents are unwilling or unable to care for them in Kinship Guardianship proceedings. She is an advocate for improving New Mexico’s child welfare system.
Sara also serves as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem in reviewing settlements were the beneficiary is a minor or an incapacitated adult. She has represented the best interest of minors in incapacitated adults in New Mexico’s state and federal courts.
